Posting Guidelines
Ground rules for making posts
- Posts must be related to anything academic. What is "academic"? First, ask yourself "Can this post be put in my personal blog?" If the answer is yes, then we at Acadæmia believe you should post it there. If the answer is no because of the following reasons: nerdiness/geekiness or someone reading it will actually learn something new, then by all means post it here!
- Posts should be written in layman's terms. Since this is a multidisciplinary blog, please define terms that may not be known by others outside the subject area.
- Posts cannot contain the following: .gifs, ALL CAPS, excessive punctuation (ex. !!!!1!!1!!), or emoticons. This is to maintain the integrity of the blog rather than reduce it to a mere 4chan post or personal blog. It's also easier on the eyes for others to read.
- Posts must be labeled. Include what general subject(s) your post addresses (ex. Biology, Education, Anthropology), any specific topics it includes (ex. Microbiology, Classroom Management, Medical Anthropology), and most importantly, your contributor name. This will make it easier for the admins to manage.
- Posts must be a minimum of three paragraphs long.
Ground rules for what not to post
- Posts shouldn't contain the following types of materials. If you post these types of content, you or your post may be removed from the group.
- Nudity and sexually explicit material. Keep things tasteful on this blog.
- Violent or bullying behavior. Don't threaten, harass, or bully other users. This includes using profanity to abuse others.
- Hate speech. We don't allow the promotion of hatred toward groups of people based on their race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, or sexual orientation/gender identity.
- Private & confidential information. Kind of a given.
- Copyright. Don't steal. Plain and simple.
